Parenting Lessons: Take One

Parenting Lessons Learned

Our son gave me a funny look as he sat across the table from me. We were eating breakfast when he sneezed.

A huge glob of nasty nose fluid hung suspended in mid-air from the tip of his face.

He started to freak out. He cried as if the world were ending. He was on the brink of hysteria.

I sprang to my feet and rushed around the table to help him wipe it up. I never made it to the other side of the table.

As I rounded the corner of the table, my foot hit the wall and I collapsed in a pile of pain.

I broke my toe. Ouch.

I learned a great lesson that day. Most things are not as urgent as you think they are. Take a breath. Take your time. It will all work out.

And boogers are not worth the price of breaking a toe.
